dana 44 disk brakes

hey guys, i just bought front and rear d44`s from a waggy for my xj, i want to do a disk brake swap on the rear once i put it in, any tips on what people have used, any sites? ive looked around on the net and havent found much info on it,

Don't use a Stainless Steel Brake Company kit. I don't know if they make one for what you are doing, but I had thier kit on a Scout D44 and it was way overpriced and hard to get parts for. Plus I had to machine my axles so the rotors in the kit would fit right.


TSM(from the link posted earlier) does make some decent kits, although on a heavy rig I don't like the caddy ebrake calipers.
 
i was getting the front 44 ready for sandblasting today and i was looking at the caliper mounts, what if i were to cut the bottem section off where it bolts to the spindal and weld it on the rear d44, use a spacer and then get a rotor that would fit, mabey from a colorado or something? there 6 bolt and a 15" rim.. but i would be getting another set of caliper mounts if i were to do this,

anyone know if it would work?
 
I've swapped in two sets, on my old Jeep I used a Ford SVO kit and my current D44 is running TJ discs. Both are nearly identical setups, but both require reworking the 4 axle flange mounting bolt holes in the backing plate. I source my own parts from the dealer with a good discount and still spent nearly $450.00.

TeraFlex makes a bolt-on kit that may sound expensive initially, but uses all Jeep parts and is already drilled for the right bolt pattern so it is bolt on. I fab my own stuff, and factoring in time and money, if I ever build another rear D44, I will use the Tera kit.
