So heres the deal..... I need 6.5" of lift in the rear of my xj. I would like to go shackles or springs, no blocks. I have heard of people using 2" Chevy lowering shackles to lift their xjs. They are $50 a pair and would make for an easy fix. However, i have also heard they cause alot of stress on your springs. On the other hand we have 6.5" lift springs. Problems here are trying to find some one who makes them and not have a supper stiff rear suspension. throw in your 2 cents. Thanks

X2 on the chebby lowering shackles...

RE 5.5 springs with their 1.5"? shackle works for a lot of people, and a lot of people like that combonation...

if you are concerned about ride, get some RE 4.5" springs, and use these - http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=956630

to make up the rest of it...

and dont forget to either buy some shims or new spring perches to correct the pinion angle after changing lift heights...

I would recommend a different approach.

Go with a 3.5" - 4" lift spring. Then sell your tall springs to someone else. Then add to that BRIANHO's shackle relocation boxes ( http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=955999 ) for $130 shipped. That will net you to about 5.5", so finish with a 1" lift shackle.

You will net your desired lift, be able to correct your shackle angle, improve ride, and improve suspension travel.

Won't stock S-10 springs net you about that much? I have heard that they ride great and flex like a mutha!

Kinda the opposite. Bastard packs are stiff and flex sub par.

Get some Alcan leafs and a 1-1.5" shackle. You order them specifically for your XJ and the weight of your XJ. They rock.
