ZJ front drive shaft?

I was at Pull-a-Part (a local u-pull it yard) last night, and decided to take a look at a ZJ after I was done pulling what I needed. A few people have suggested a Front V8 ZJ shaft as a good option for rear driveshaft on a 5spd with an SYE. What I noticed was the axle end of the DS did not have a Yoke and ujoint, can anymone confirm this as being normal?

it's only normal if the front half is missing. it should look more or less like the one in your xj.how about this weather? summer is finally here. I'm up on Whidbey Island & it's awesome today!

no it loked like it was a CV joint or something

Some Grand Cherokees had a CV style front shaft maybe you found one of them?

I haven' seen one of those on a zj before. I wonder if they come on the rigs that have the cv joints on the axles? can we assume these are junk, like the axles ? nice chart, good info.

hmm never saw a GC shaft like that at the junkyard before, but either way the one your looking for is exactly the same as your cherokees front shaft, just different lengths. The one you want is gonna come from a V8 cherokee. its the longest one available as far as I know. if you wanna save yourself the trip I have one (i dont know the number on it off hand but using the chart I had it was the longest one.)

Are the measurements on this chart based on collapsed or extended lengths?

Its normal. My 95 ZJ has a CV joint on the front drive shaft. I think it comes with the quadra trac package. It also has CV joints on the axle half shafts.
