dana 44 axle shaft bearing question

So i'm replacing the seals and shaft bearing when i noticed one of the old bearings on the shaft is backwards from the other one? When i puled the shafts out, one shaft came out ok ,the other one left the bearing race in the housing.

So witch way is right and witch way is wrong?

the race should stay in the housing. the cone of the bearing should point towards the center
