I have been having problems tracking down a clanking/slamming sound Ive been experiencing when off road in the front end. Mostly when going uphill, when the axle is moving. The next thing I want to try is the control arm mounts.
I just had an alignment done, so the frame ends are tight. But when I looked at the axle ends of the LCA, one bracket is close to tight against the bushing, while the other is wider. So, in theory the bushing and arm could move back and forth 1/8" or so.
Im assuming they should be tight enough to be at least touching the bushing. So in theory they may just be loose. Can anyone confirm that they should be tight with no gaps? And if that's true, tightening the bolt should close the gap, or do I have bent mounts?
