No not really. If it's left with the hood closed for awhile running possibily. You could just as easily skip it and jump the terminals together.

I just removed mine. It does No harm if removed.

Ive been running with the BR bypassed for 6 months now, no issues. I only hear the pump if I get below 1/4 tank, otherwise I see no difference other than one less thing that can go wrong.
