Have any of you cut out the inner portion, the wrap under flap that is rediculously large and rubs tires? Did it make the flare any less strong?

I cut mine up inside. Just whatever I needed to keep the flare out of the way from the tire. It doesn't affect the strength of the flare at all. Go for it.

I did it to help them 'conform' to trees and rocks, I thought they would bend a little easier.

I opened mine up - then again, I needed the clearance for 42s.
