I have always wanted to see proof that the money we spend on access issues is sent to an organization with a winning track record.
It takes big money to fight in court, and if we spend this money, I want positive results. Anyone can file a lawsuit on behalf of the off road community, but can they win any of these suits?

I believe that those people who have stepped up to the plate in order to keep JV open need our support. I don't however support this new organization , Friends of Johnson Valley, filing any lawsuits. They need to team up with the bigger dogs and help them help us...

And another note, in our quest to keep JV open, we need to make sure we don't neglect maintaining the relationships that have been developed with the Forestry Service.

NAXJA needs a seat at the table in the fight to keep JV open.
We need a seat and a checkbook....

I agree...

start here:
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=957082

petition the BOD for more... id bet if they can sponsor Goatman in a race, they can throw $1000 towards a special land use cause...

and start showing up for stuff...

I wish I lived closer...

I joind BRC because of that thread and what Del had to say... I believe that he is someone who is what he says he is...

Rick - see my PM

Sponsoring Goatman was a step in the right direction.
We cannot define ourselves in a narrow way.
Access, maintenance, support and exposure, all equal....

I choose to help....in any way needed.

Hell, I might even come out of advocacy retirement at some point and I'm tired of losing access.

Hmm.... what could be next?

Check the other thread, important stuff there.

Rick is right on the note that throwing money to small organizations don't work, they are a total waste of money. It seems like a good idea from the outside, but in court they normally don't get anywhere. Typically the Off-Road groups are way out numbered by the people who want the areas closed. It takes personal involvement and most people won't spend there time in this way. One group who has been extremely successful in legal Battles is CORVA.

An invite to participate and see what has been going on so far:

The Partnership For Johnson Valley cordially invites you to attend an OHV
Roundtable Meeting to discuss the proposed Twentynine Palms Marine Base
Expansion. OHV is one of the many affected stakeholders in the
Johnson Valley Open
Access Multiple Use Area.

This meeting is one of an ongoing series of meetings being held by the
Partnership to meet with Affected Stakeholders (OHV and non-OHV) to
exchange
information and discuss the dynamics of the proposed Marine Base
expansion into
Johnson Valley.

Ed Waldheim has graciously allowed the Partnership to hold the meeting
at his
office. The information is as follows:

Date: Monday, June 16, 2008
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: 3550 Foothill Blvd. Glendale, CA

If you are unable to attend in person, you may participate via a
conference
line.

Please RSVP by Friday, June 13, 2008, and indicate via email if you
will be
attending in person or via conference line. The conference number and
access
code will be provided by return email.

Sincerely,

It should be noted that both of our local members of the National BOD will be attending this meeting.
I have not contacted our Chapter President or Treasurer yet, but would hope they could make some time for this meeting.

Right now I'd say we are looking at a holding pattern.
There is an organizational meeting July 2nd. After that one we
should have a clearer vision of what to do.

I hope...

Yup. Our outside view will go from pitch black to muddy brown, if people can stop going out of their way to stir up the waters.
