JKS Quicker Disconnects allen size

Hello folks. This might be a stupid question. However, at risk of embarassment I shall ask anyway.

Im attempting to install the JKS quicker discos model #2001. The instructions say to use a 6mm ALLEN socket to tighten the upper half of the disco to the mount. I bought a 6mm HEX socket from Sears, and the damn thing wont fit in the bolt. It was my understanding that hex and allen were the same thing. The socket indeed says "6mm" on it.

What am I doing wrong?

the only thing you did wrong was listen tothe directions. instead you should have took the bolt with oyu to sears and found one that fit that way

IIRC on mine they where a standard size, not metric

just find one that fits. also, use threadlocker on the bolts cuz mine came loose the first time when i didnt use it.

They said 6mm allen head socket. I'll take the bolt wi me to Sears to dbl check it though.

My quicker discos used SAE bolts. In fact, I changed out the bolts used on the 'storage pegs' or whatever you call them.

On an ALLEN head bolt the wrench go into the hole in the bolt head.A HEX head bolt the socket/wrench goes on the OUTSIDE.

Thanks Wayne. I believe thats a nobrainer. The head of the bolt clearly has an inset hex pattern. Not an outset hex shape like a standard bolt.
