Renix and mud

I took my 89 out in the woods yesterday and hit the mud. I know now it was a little to early to be splashing around, considering I still haven't found my idle gremlins and I was just on my way to recovery. Well today i'm driving and getting bad shifts and no pedal-to-the-floor acceleration in higher speeds. I'm just wondering if I signed myself up for another TPS replacement. :twak:

but it felt so right...

RENIX:

Renault-Bendix

AMC had Bendix build the components for the EFI Using mostly GM sensors and parts, They then used the frenchmen (Renault) to program it.

Since AMC was partly owned by Renault, thats why we get RENIX or RENDIX....

In September(?) of 1987 AMC was officially purchased by Chrylser corp. but, do to contract terms, Chrylser had to continue using Renault and Bendix for the EFI, once 1991 rolled around Chrysler started using they're own parts.

Sorry, I want on a small bender there.....

BTW, get used to seeing the word RENIX on this board...

I own one, so I can attest to some loving and some hating it.....

Man my first car was a Renault Encore Loved it !!! My mom got it off some widowed wife for like 200 bucks ! It was no chick magnet but man reverse donuts ROCKED
Jeep and Renault

I've known it for awhile....

If you want more stuff on Jeep XJ's: http://www.allpar.com/trucks/jeep/cherokee.html

or for the Early Jeep line: http://www.allpar.com/history/bantam-jeep.html

Or for more AMC info: http://www.allpar.com/amc/index.html

And yes, I am a contributing author for allpar, though I did not write those articles. My articles are on replacement of parts. Conduct a search for Speedometer cable replacement, and you will find my article for this forum....

good links thanks for the info

Lol anyone ever have the same problem?

lol... hijacked threads or TPS issues...j/k

If you suspect TPS and you've been there before, start testing... can't really think of too many other things that mud could effect with those symptoms... unless you gave your whole engine bay a healthy splash that is...

There is an idea that Jeeps are amphibious vehicles impervious to any water or mud excursion.

And a million posts the next day about how it doesn't run right, if at all.

Kinda like knife self-defense in a concealed carry world, and you can't talk to them about it either. So I won't try here, other than point out what was said by the OP, it was a little too early.

Jeep + Muddy water = electrical failure. Exact same kind of wiring as a soccer mom van.
