I have 32x16x11.5 swampers, but cannot find any used 16x8" rims

i see cherokee and liberty rims that are 16x7, can I use these?

What are the negative points??

If I have to, i will buy 16x8, cragars or pro-comps. I have 5 tires so thats about 350-400 dollars....was hoping to get cheaper wheels...16x7s are cheaper

Yes. A 11.5" tire on a 7" wheel is like a 12.5" tire on a 8" wheel. Lots of people run a 12.5" tire on an 8" wheel. You may run into problems with turning to full lock though. Stock jeep wheels have over 5" of BS IIRC.

Do it right the first time. Id buy the 16x8's. Interco recomemds the 32x11.50x16 use a 16x8 rim.

Lies. A 7 inch rim will be perfect.

I ran 32x11.5x15's on 15x7 Jeep wheels for several years.
Zero problems with funky treadwear. You'll be less apt to break a bead loose when aired down as well.

16x7's will be just fine for your described setup.

Why?

Same mfg.spec logic will get folks regearing their rigs from 3.08's to 4:10's to run 33's.........when you really need 4:56's or 4:88's because their specs don't factor in the lift height needed to run 33's, the added wind resistance caused by said lift, nor the added rolling resistance of a tire that is 5 sizes larger than stock, not to mention the added weight of a full-sized spare, aftermaket bumpers and armor.

I'd take the advice of fellow jeepers who have been there, done that, over a tire mfg. spec any day.....so I do it right the first time.

I run a 37x12.5x16 on a 16x7 wheel with 3.5" of bs. dont have any problems. and I can comfortably air down to about 12 psi and have yet to break a bead

on my old F350 i ran them on factory steel wheels(actually, 285/75's which are 33x11.50) and they were just fine.

belle tire also didn't even mention the width of rim vs tire either.

I've run 32x11.50 and 33x12.50's on 15x7 rims with no trouble. In WA, I did have trouble finding a place to mount them. Mounting them yourself is no big deal. If you drive very far from civilization, you should be able to change a tire yourself anyway. think of it as practice :)

it's fine. if anything, it will keep the bead on better than an 8" rim.
