'98 Cherokee hood release cable needed

Today my hood release cable broke, just behind the handle. The cable was completely frayed and finally gave up the ghost. Anyone have one laying around? The dealership wants 150 bucks for a new one, I found a cheap one on the net for about 30 bucks. That's a huge difference, I have to wonder if it's any good. The sooner I can get one the better, the hood won't close tight, so I can't drive it. What about hood pins? Worthwhile?
