Ok, so I bought the yoke I needed for the front driveshaft SYE and had it cut down and the first 5/8" of splines machined out for the bearing on the end. I was planning on leaving 1 1/4" of splines for the yoke to go over.
After I got the piece back today I realized that the splines do not go all the way down the yoke end, they stop about 1/4" before the end on the inside. So, that would mean that after I cut my shaft down to 1 1/4" of splines that there would only be 1" of spline contact between the yoke and the shaft after I bolt it on.
Is that OK? Am I splitting hairs or should I leave 1 1/2" of splines on the shaft to achieve 1 1/4" of contact?
Thanks in advance!
