Modify the Radiator?

I found a leak at the lower tranny outlet/inlet. While doing some needed work on the Xj, i found it leaking where the tranny tube enters the radiator. I also noticed that the metal tube was almost pinched closed. Can the connection be fixed or modified?
Should I look for another Rad?

The tube on the lower part of the Rad, is it the inlet or the return?
I would also admit that I was dissapointed to find out that the radiator transmission cooler was not a real cooler, but rather a heat exchanger that doesnt allow the tranny to use the full extent of the radiator.

Can anyone help with this?
I would really like to see what options are out there!
What have you all done with your radiator fixes- replace with better or repair?

The fitting on the bottom of the radiator should be the return.

Isn't the L fitting just a fitting as well? There should be threads in the radiator endcap down there as well, as there are for the top line fitting.
