Exhaust replacement

I'm gonna replace my fancy two peice exhaust manifold  this weekend with a lowly one peice:D and was wondering if there is anything I should know to make it go as smooth as possible. I was told you could unhook the hoses and such that run to the manifold and just lift it up onto the valve cover, then I read the Haynes book.

In all honesty, its not that much MORE work to just remove the head with the exhaust/intake manifolds attached. Its one huge PITA to do this job if you dont. There just is not enough room for your hands to get in there to tighten the bolts / nuts let alone a torque wrench.
