looking into gathering some parts to start building stuff before i put it all into the Jeep. it has 3:55 ratio. and its 50 bucks. it will be used for moderate wheeling and some trips down to winterfest in the future i hope.

are these a good cantidate for a beefier rear end? i haven't come across any xj dana 44's and from what i've read the ford 8.8 are next best cantidate. what needs to be done to these to make em work? new spring perches and shock mounts?

I got my 8.8 out of a 97 Explorer it had disks and 4.10LSD and thats a nice deal for a rear swap.

Check out the tread for a 8.8 build up....

thanks for the links, been reading through them for a bit now.

i'm a bit green when it comes to really getting this thing durable i haven't gone so far as to swap axels so i'm a bit intimidated and unsure as to whats going to work and whats involved. I'm a welder/fabricator by trade so building stuff is what i do. Just new territory to explore

thanks again

If your just looking for a rear swap I would wait till you find a exploder rear with disks. Not only does it have disc's and isa better width but it also has the correct bolt pattern, unlike the F150's 5x5.5. If you do go with the fullsize rear then you could get spacers that convert the bolt pattern but it would be hell on the D30's bearings and you would need new rims the whole way around. after it it is all said and done it might be cheaper to find the correct sploder axle.

i think the explorer is the way to go. thanks for the tips i'm sure shortly they will be put to good use.:patriot:
