What does the relay under the hood in the junction box do? It says ASD on it. i have a 99 cherokee sport auto. is the asd relay transmission related? thank you

It's called an Automatic Shut Down Relay (ASD). I had some wacky Trans codes a week ago and I found that to be the fix for me. My codes where P1687 and p1698. I hope this helps a little took me a few weeks to find that fix from surfing the forums.

I found some info. on the ASD relay.

I know I found my ASD relay to be bad one day when the old girl wouldn't start. A quick swap-out with another relay (not the fuel pump relay, obviously) uncovered the bad relay in quick fashion.
