Blinkers and 4-ways

I have a '96 xj, straight 6, 5 speed. I have a problem with my blinkers and 4-ways. The fuse blew the other day so I replaced it just like I should have. When I wanted to turn right, the blinker worked fine, when I wanted to turn left it blinked once and went out. Both my blinkers and my 4-ways. I can't figure this out. It is one of those BIG fuses and its a 20 amp fuse. Has anyone ever had this problem before and how do I fix it???

You got a short somewhere check the wires to see if metal is grounding somewhere.

see thats wut I thought but, would that make my blinkers and my 4-ways turn off and would it make it blow that big fuse???

its definitely possible, check both.

Check the bulbs also. The dual filiment bulbs can short inside, I've seen it. The filiment blows for one then lays over on the other filiment and causes all kinds of problems.

Sounds like it could be the turn signal switch. Sometimes one of the flat detent springs get dislodged and shorts across the contacts.
