Dumb radiator drain question 2000 XJ

Ok this is a dumb question on the radiator drain fitting on a 2000 model with the 4.0 liter motor. Is the drain fitting a screw out fitting or is it a pull out fitting? And on a side note what brilliant engineer thought it was a good idea to put the fitting behind the headlight assembly.

Thanks

dont know the answer, but i drain the radiator on my 89 by undoing the bottom radiator hose. its much faster and less of a mess than using the petcock.

it unscrews, but x2 on just pulling the lower radiator hose....

yes, it is a dumbass design. i'd like to get one of those oil drain hose adapter things for mine. the one where you screw on the little footlong rubber hose to your drainplug on your oil pan and it comes out the hose.....

That little plastic plug is fragile. Be safe and get done faster, just remove the lower radiator hose to drain the system.
