Me and a buddy are building a new rear bumper and tire carrier using some ideas borrowed from this site and I have a few questions that searching didn't answer. We are using the mount idea that DanMan used on his build but instead of putting a slot in the 2X4 mount we just cut the shackle bolt short with the sawzall inside the "framerail". Does anyone see a problem with that? Also I was hoping to get a close up pic of the pivot and latch from the CROK tire carrier setup or any similar ones you guys have built that connects to the face of the bumper instead of on top. I'm thinking that might be the route we'll take. I'll try to post some pics of it when we get further into the project. Thanks.
