Undercarriage guard - necessary?

You don't need it. It does keep the alternator cleaner and the belt cleaner and drier as well as keep debris from kicking up into the bay as much, but as many times as i was under my XJ I got tired of it and removed it. It was beginning to fall apart anyway.
If you have the cash, get an engine skid and it will do the above as well as actually protect your junk too.
 
haha i remember that nasty thing when i bought my 90. one of the first "mods" done was ripping that thing off .:laugh2:
