High output engine

From what I've read all XJ's from "91 on were built with the high output 4.0L I6. I assumed that the 4.0's that went into Grand Cherokees from "91 on were also HO. But in looking at a 97 XJ on a used car lot, the salesman told me it was a non-HO.

So my question is: How do you know whether an XJ or Grand Cherokee has the HO engine? I'm thinking about getting a second jeep for a DD to keep the miles off the one I've built up for off road use.

Just ask the little old lady who used to own it and only drove it to Church on Sundays, which engine it has.
