Dakota Leaf Info needed: 97' & Newer.

What is the difference between the 96' and older Dakota Leafs to say 97-2002?

Will the newer model leaf packs not work?


I have searched and can't find a single thing on anyone using 97 and up dakota leaf packs.

Someone please explain the difference to me.

You can make anything work just requires some effort.

As long as they are 2.5" wide, they can be cut down to the right length. Remember, the center pin hole may be bigger, so either drill your your XJ ones, or live with the one hole being bigger.

Okay well I measured the ones on my truck and they are 2.5'' wide. So let me gets this straight. You use the XJ main leaf and the whole dakota leaf but cut the eyes off of the dakota main leaf.

If I am missing something fiil me in.

Nope, thats about it. Make sure they extend as far as the XJ main leaf eye. So basically make them the same length. Search for the $11 dollar bastard pack write up by Timmay. There are a few other ones out there too.

Would this change anything: The axle that will be going under the leafs is a ford 9inch?

Nope, it shouldnt. You will just need the proper spring retainer plate and u bolts.

I always search before I ask a question. Cuz most of the time the topic has already been covered. So there is no point in asking the same question more than once.
