hid/ xenon lights

More an opinion and a personal preference, the Xenon put out a very white light, sometimes almost blue (UV) and don't seem to work well in the fog or rain. On the highway, on clear dry nights, they work well.
If I need more light I usually just add a couple of 150 watt driving lights.
 
Headlights are H4 or 9003 bulbs for the XJ
 
That "Xetronic" system is old technology anyways. Systems produced within the past ~2 years have the ballasts and igniters in a single unit. That and the $349 price tag is so 2004. You shouldn't have a problem finding a kit for $100 nowadays.
