27 or 29 spline 8.25? how do i know?

Any Cherokee 97 or newer with a 8.25 had the 29 spline rear axle. My 96 is 27 spline.:bawl:

You would have to check the tag under one of the rear differential cover bolts and cross the numbers over to make sure.
There is a good rule of thumb that approximately May '96 is where they changed over from 27 to 29 spline.
