do i need to get new gears if i get a 3" lift with 31" tires?...if so what?

well i have a 99 and the gears are stock
thats a personal preference depends on what u do?
do u just drive mostly on street and little off road? stay stock if ur not serious offroader
do u want better gas mileage? get gears
u want more torque and traction offroad?
N e ways i have a 89 with 4.5 lift and 31's and 3.07 gears which is the tallest gear from factory and mine gets 12 to 13mpg. Im getting 456's and lockers soon.
I took it threw a mushy clay mud field and in 4wd high in 1st gear it started to bog on me.
so tell us what gears u have auto or manual? and what ur goals are then we can help.
