HELP!!! hesitation and popping upon light acceleration

My 1997 Cherokee has been hesitating and "popping", and i initially thought it was the throttle positioning sensor, because it was acting as if it wasn't getting the signal that it was getting throttle response. I replaced the tps, ran cleaner through the intake system, and cleaned the throttle plate. I also checked the code for the check engine light and it was for the purge valve on the charcoal canister, it said that it had failed. So, if anyone could help me out with my situation, i would greatly appriciate it. Btw, the truck has 163,000 miles on it if it makes any difference.

I was told it was in the tank and that they usually dont need replacing. but to answer your question, no.

Are you going to replace/repair or check out the circuit for the duty cycle purge solenoid for your evap canister?

yea, just haven't had any time to do anything to it. was hoping that the solenoid wasn't all my problems, though with my luck it probably is.
