anyone running this?

today i called jeep4x4center.com and they said this wont fit an 87 cherokee, but for some reason it fits the 88-04 4.0 liter I6. anyone know the difference between an 87 4.0 liter I6 and the other ones. heres the link

quadratec.com has them also and they say it fits any model 4.0 liter I6 from 88-2004

Doesnt make much sense since the same Renix engine was used from 87-90 and the same trannys were offered during this time frame as well...

Do you have an auto or manual tranny?

I looked on Summit Racing.com, they have Powermaster XS Starters - and theirs say they fit 87+ 4.0L...

not sure why Mean Green says 1988 unless they just dont know any better...

i have an auto tranny,

thanks im gonna have to check that one out, ill probably go with that one.

So i got the Powermaster XS started and put it in today and i think i messed something up. when i went back to connect the battery the car started to crank without the keys in the ignition. im not too sure what i did wrong, help, anyone, please.
