Is this a Detroit locker??

Is this a detroit locker or something else? I might buy this 9" that has what he claims is a detroit locker (he was told) I can see what looks like a big spring inside

My concern is the casting, I figured it would have a nice smooth machined finish

I say yes, although hard to see, because;
IIRC, the(some?) ford 9 detroit is a bit different (looking) then those you see for DANA axles,

This is the picture most have imprinted in their head, when you say full detroit

Can you get access tto the Shafts to do the 'detroit no spin test' lol

Looks like a locked third member out of a Toyota to me.

me too. see the deal on the ends of the carieer(sp) thay are to adjust backlash from the ring to the pinion. the round deals with the holes. im not too farmiliar with the ford 9", but ive only seen them on the toyotas

Yes its a detroit locker for a 9" ford... Fords use the cap style pumpkin long before the imports.. Nice score..
