97zj 42re question

Here's the quick story, Dead battery after fixing that it would idle only after it warmed up,I did a tune up plugs,wires, cap, and rotor etc, idles fine now. But now there is no reverse or park. In reverse or park when the throttle is pressed the rpm's won't go over 2500. Like its in gear and the things stuck. I tried driving it down the road in neutral it jumped from neutral to drive. I adjusted both the shifter cable and kick down/TV cable. This is a 97 grand with the 42re, 4.0. This Tranny was rebuilt about 3 years ago. All this seemed to happen after the battery died. I tried NACGA but I was hoping maybe someone here could help.
