Power Window Troubles

I have a newly acquired 91 XJ Limited with power windows. The driver's windows will not roll up completely. It slows way down about 3" from the top and stops about 1" from the top. When I roll it down it can disappear about 3 or 4 inches into the door. I've been looking online for a way to adjust it but haven't found any yet.

have you taken the door panel off and inspected the regulator, motor, electrical connections, linkage....?
