removing and replacing tailgate struts

my tailgate gas struts have stoped working and i would like to replace them but have no idea how to remove them?

what do i do to get them off?

what tools do i need?

A flat screwdriver. You pop up the metal spring clip then the mount comes loose from the ball. Be sure to support the rear gate.

X2 Just did mine. eace: Oh yeah, you need a 10mm to remove them from the hatch. And again SUPPORT the hatch!

Easiest job ever. The struts are held on with a little paperclip looking piece of wire that goes through the ball end. Get a pair of pliers and grab and rotate the paperclip so that it springs off the tube, then pull it straight out. New ones go on the same way.
