You probably read all the threads already (I hope), so you should know to steer clear of cheapo Fram, quaker state etc filters. Use a quality filter and you should be good to go.

that's what I use--no more dry starts, oil pressure is alot better than the 1k I used a fram filter for.JNickel101 said:
you can also use a 1qt filter instead of the stock 1/2qt which brings it up to 6.5qt total, I'm going to do that my next oilchange, its the same filter that SB fords call for
edit: actually now that I think about it, the renix jeeps use a different filter than cryco jeeps, I'm not sure what 1qt filter works with renix but I know you can find one

Since I have both 4 & 6 cylinder Cherokee's, one quart per cylinder.

Not IN the cylinder.
2.5 liter 4 cyl. takes 4 quarts.
4.0 liter 6 cyl. takes 6 quarts.
Makes it easy for me.
