Dismantleing a 242... Help me folks

Can not get my damn rear output shaft housing to come off... it'll come off about 1/4 inch after thats its a bastard... whats up? I need to do something before I take it off or is it just a biotch to remove?

In all honesty, I'd be looking for a 231 to swap in and save yourself the effort. Your problems sound very much like mine after I windowed the t-case at tellico in '04... you should be able to find a replacement for somewhere in the neighborhood of $125.

Trouble shifting, funny noises; chances are that it's scrap metal. did you verify if there was any fluid left in it?
 
Well I gotta wait till tommorow to get a damn puller... gaaahh

I sold my 231 and replaced it with the 242 so... NO... I want the 242. I have a spare to take parts off of, and Its just gonna get fixed. Yes there was fluid
