i have an 1989 xj with 300,000 miles on it... the engine runs decent still but i'm tired of dealing with the endless problems it has i was wondering if i could put in a 2002 xj 4.0 without having to change everything like motor mounts and computers.. any thoughts?

Nope. The 89 is a Renix system. You would have to change wiring harness, computers, sensors, etc.... What kind of problems are you having? 300,000 is alot of miles, but I've seen them last longer. I have 228,000 on my 1990.

4.0 xj engine problems

it always pukes antifreeze out of the overflow tank i've put in a new radiator thermostat completely flushed everything and a new overflow cap and it still does it... also the head gasket is in need of replacing... the rings are shot and it has close to a million oil leaks.. pretty much just a big headache

what are your options? you could always put a junkyard motor in. or if you have a bigger budget, you could build a stroker, or maybe have your motor rebuilt.
