will pre-96 glass work in 97-01 cherokees? are they interchangeable? some little punk smashed the window in my 99. it is on the driver's side rear door, the small fixed piece that is separated by a piece of trim from the portion of the window that rolls up and down.

kenny

no, they're not

The glass looks the same to me? Not sure about the moldings though.

Just measure it out.

Yes, its the same door except for the lock location.

uh, NO it is not. they're not interchangeable. note the vent wing window on the 96 and earlier style, note the single pane glass on the 97-01 style. you can't even swap the parts in, because the guts of the door changed too. they look the same but they're not.

as for the lock, it's the same location. people swap the newer doors onto the older jeeps all the time with minimal alteration.

he's talking about the rear windows. the little fixed piece looks very similar imo, but they are different o.e. part numbers. although this may be due to the moulding. i think you're going to have to compare/measure them firsthand.

Yes you can, just add/remove the divider and matching glass/molding.

If you have to alter it, its not in the same location...

Anyway...
Read before you give people bad info or tell people they are wrong.

Yeah, he was talking about the rear.

The front is entirely different since it changed 3 times. From being a vent window, to a fixed, to deleting the front piece and having one larger glass piece.
