Servicing Floor Jack

BrokenXJ

My floor jack (under load) goes up about 3/4 of the way and then the handle starts to short-stroke and won't go up any more.

The main shaft and pump shaft are little wet with hydraulic fluid but nothing major. What is the procedure for adding fluid?

what year?
automatic or manual?
how many miles?
2 or 4 door?

replace the leaky seal and top off with fluid....the procedures for bleeding air out of the hydraulics vary depending on design and manufacturer. What kind of jack is it?

Most have a small plug and that should be removed and the hydralic fluid poured in there until it is full. With the shaft wet you probably have a leaking seal. Those are more difficult to tell you how to replace. I have three floor jacks and each is different.
Good luck.
