First off, I'll just let you know what I have...

1996 XJ Sport
4.0/Aw4/231
This is what it looked like when I brought it home.

It now has the bumpers off my old Jeep.

This was my 1987 XJ. I purchased it built and it was a good rig until it started falling apart. I don't mind though, I beat on it pretty hard and it taught me a lot when it comes to off-roading. That and it's giving me plenty of parts for my new Jeep.

From it I will be using...

The bumpers and ramsey 8500 winch.
some relays for the lights
Skyjacker shocks (till I decide on new ones)
rear driveshaft (when I get the SYE for my 96)
Front D30 w/4.56 gears
Rear D44 w/4.56 gears and lockrite (still looks great on inspection and has always worked great as well.)
33" Continental MTs
Skyjacker lower control arms
Skyjacker trac-bar

New items I have are Rusty's 4.5" lift springs front and rear. I will be updating other things along the way as well. but this is what I'll be starting out with. The D30 will probably go under the Jeep right away, but the D44 will wait a little bit while I put disc brakes on it and a new pinion seal. So I will be covering that in here too. This should all be done by the end of Sunday, so I should be able to update the pics somewhat often.

Here are some pics up until now.

I have a few more on my camera, but I can't find the cord right now. I'll post them later. For now I will be returning to my parts to work on this some more.

I'm kind of in a jam right now. It appears that my 96 uses std brake lines while my 87 used metric. So I have to go buy new crows foot wrenches. Is it possible to get an adapter that switches from metric to standard? If so then I will do that because my 87 axle has longer braided lines on it along with new brakes. It also has bumpstops bolted to the spring perches and the newer axle doesn't even have holes in it for the bolts.

Ok, it appears that I have the brake problem figure out. I purchased some adapters that go from SAE to Metric. I am about to start putting the axle on. So here are some more pics for now....

This picture shows one of the rust holes. That is carpet coming through the floor.

Then these are some of the last shots before it was hauled off to the scrap yard.

I didn't take too many pictures of the removal of the front axle, but I'll probably be taking pictures of any tricks that I may need to use during re-assembly. Well, back to work I go...

Just realized I never actually updated this. So, three years later, I suppose I could add a few pics.

I'll start with the pics from the front axle swap and spring install.

Didn't really take too many pictures of the whole process of adding the stuff from the old Jeep, but here are some random shot of the stuff I did take pictures of.

So now that the build process is out of the way (even though it is lacking a lot), I will get on to the pictures of it actually wheeling and how it looks most recently.

So there you have it. It's come a long ways, but still such a long way to go. Been a great journey thus far too.
