front bumper Q's

How important is it to have side protection on my front bumper. I am putting together ideas for my front and rear bumper builds. Just wanted to know if the added weight of side protection on the front is worth it, or can I just make a stubby bumper for recovery. any ideas for this would be great and pics of any build ideas. thanks micah

i didnt build any on mine, and i dont really care for them. they just get in the way. if your fenders are still nice, i would add them. i have slid the front of mine into trees and rocks, and if i had the little side protectors it wouldnt have mulched the fenders as much, but since its only sheet metal and i dont really care what it looks like, i never added them.

but i do wax it and it is a tail only rig! lol
