I know that a 80 to 84 front waggy dana 44 is a good swap but is their a reason why i shouldn't use an 87 front waggy dana 44. I found one at my local pick'n pull for $100
That is precisely what you want... I have one under my rig. 83-84 Waggy D44's have a vac-disconnect at the drivers side of the diff, and while I hear it can be bypassed, you could do without that stuff on the driver's side anyway as there is not all that much room for bracketry to begin with...
