axle question?

yep D35, LSD will normally have a 2nd tag. yours does not. Jack it up and spin the tire if it turns than it is open or the lsd is totally gone. best way is to open the cover and look at the carrier. It is leaking anyhow.

yeah, it couldn't have been leaking that bad though cause when i pulled the check plug it was almost full to the hole. i just sucked out all the old shit and filled it after taking these pics too.

a cheap can of black spray paint would clean up the underside of your Jeep really nice. :D

Go steal the axle off whatever it is on the other side of your XJ... it looks big... and 8 lugged

That's definitely a D35 - lo and behold it has a metal drain plug. Doesn't mean much except to the several folks on here that try to use that as their only way to ID a D35.

Just to clarify - get both rear tires off the ground (after blocking the front tires). Then, when you spin one tire, if the opposite one turns the same direction you have a limited-slip or other traction-aiding device. An open diff will spin the opposite tire the opposite direction.
