New shocks

Well i just put a 3" lift on my 91 xj and now i need some shocks. I really don't want to drop a lot of money on them cuz i am planning on going bigger in the beginning of 08. Can i use grand cherokee shocks on my xj? Will they be long enough for the 3" lift. Just trying to find out something to use besides extenders that is reasonably cheap.
