Dana 35 pinion nut issue

Buddy of mine broke the yoke on Dana 35. U joint blue up and and also nicked some of the threads on the end of the pinion. Nut came off of his jeep just fine, had to use impact wrench to get the yoke off my parts jeep. However the nuts will not go back on his jeep all the way even hitting it with the impact to the point the seal is now leaking and still having a 1/4" of play. Also the nut from my parts jeep will not go back on (think buddy might have tried to use it on his jeep and messed it up.

Can someone please state they have or have not been able to reuse the nut on a dana 35c pinion\yoke.

I have reused the nuts many of times. For some odd reason maybe the nuts were diffrent and you guys got em swapped and screwed up the threads. Good luck on that since the threads are on the pinion.
