What is leaking, how hard is it to fix. By the way i am loosing oil at a fast rate, can tell from looking at my dip stick every month or so.

Thanks for the help.

looks like your rear main seal. i've never changed one with the motor in the jeep but i think you need to unbolt tranny to get oil pan off. you may have to take your exhust off too.

don't be scared by the rear main seal job, it isn't too difficult if you have some mechanical know how and a few tools. You will not need to pull the engine, the transmission or the exhaust. You can do all the work with the jeep up on jackstands. There are a million threads and several great online tutorials on how to do this repair. It is really well documented and a very common repair for the 4.0l engine. Before you decide to tear into the engine, there are a few other places known to leak oil which can mimick a RMS. Like I said, do a search..this topic comes up every few days so there are millions of threads out there.
When I did the RMS job it took me quite a while, but it was also the first time I had torn into an engine so I took my time, and also checked the main bearings for wear. It's a good idea to do as much work as possible (replace oil pump if the vehicle is getting to the high mileage stage, plastigate the main bearings etc). It isn't a hard job, but it can be time consuming and is pretty grimy. Personally I like working on my junk, but if you don't like wrenching it'll probably only be something you want to do once.

is this something i should take care of immediatly or can it wait for a week or so..

It's no big rush as long as you keep checking your level often, and keep a pan under the vehicle when parked on your driveway.
It was quite a while before I got to my leak a few years ago, and I was even bringing my pan to work with me because they just had the parking lot resurfaced and I didn't want to hear anything about it....Read all the writeups you can here, you'll get some good tips, get all your stuff together and pick a day when you can really take your time and do it right.

Yeppers thats a rear main seal. Like said above, it can wait for a bit and check the levels often. Not that bad of a chore but really messy. All the tech articles are pretty good on what you will incounter. just clean all the surfaces with brake clean really good and personally i would get a one peice metal insert gasket to make re install easier. good luck

I think you should eliminate the other possible sources before you start diving into a rear main seal job. If the back of the block above the tranny is oily, that points to a valve cover leak. If you have any oil on the block near the oil filter, it may be time to replace the o-rings in the oil filter adapter - the oil tend to run backwards and drip down as well. Also check the vent line at the rear of the valve cover and make sure it's clear as that can exacerbate leaks.
