GoJeep has a great writeup on his site about fabbing a Hack 'n Tap SYE out of a cut down and drilled slip yoke.

Is there any reason why you couldn't do this using the existing stock slip yoke? This question obviously only applies to post 96's with the sealed tailcone.

yes because u need to have a yoke that will accept ubolts or straps and the stock one does neither. look at the yoke on the front of the tcase and that is the type u want. gojeep used one that is for a chevy i think

You have to use one from a Vette with the T350. They run about $65 on EBay if you can find one. Some cost a bit more like up to $120. They are 27 Spline and have the bolt hole and U Straps.

or any yoke that is 27 spline and accepts straps or u bolts...

A strap/u-bolt yoke will not work either,it has to be a "CV-style" yoke. There was a thread sometime back that showed the difference.Try a search for it!

With the Vette yoke you know the ID is right and it can bolt up to the cv joint. It is a strap setup but that allows it to work with an XJ front DS in some applications. You just run the bolts for the CV through the U Strap holes. This is why a normal yoke doesn't work.

Still incorrect, try to put some straps/u-bolts on a CV yoke, the bolt holes will not line up!
