Upgrade or modify a steering pump??

Have an 89 xj, power steering pump is whining pretty good and steering is stiff (fluid is clean and new). Time for a new pump. Does anyone have first hand experience with using a pump off anything else?like a durango or dakota or anything?Or modify a new stock one? Thanks!
