I am in need of a new bumper for my 2000xj. I want a winch bumper now but do not want to compromise ground clearance in the fromt. Unfortunatly, my budget is tight at this time so hear is what I am thinking about doing.

I was thinking I could got to JCR offroad and get the stage 3 bumper it is about 250, and when I can afford my winch I was thinking about the "backbone system" offered by DetoursUSA.

In the long run I would be spending a little over 500 for this combo so it is still a better deal then buying a winch bumper now.

Does anyone think these two will be compatible? And will running a winch in front of my grill cause heating issues?

Here are the links to each item....

i hate to assume, but if your asking questions like this, it is most likely NOT
im not talking shit, but im sure your gonna have to modify the hell outta those things to make em work....
and if your that good with abrasive wheels and welders, why not start from scratch?
the question that comes to mind, is why?

I have the Detours, great system! Buy it first and then build your own bumper on it. It would not be hard to copy that bumper design onto the Detours. Take the money you save from buying the other bumper and buy yourself a welder and some steel and go at it.

As for the overheating issue, just add some hood vents. I personaly do not like the look of them but they work. We wheeled today in 100+ heat and 90% humidity here in VA and we just took more breaks to cool the Jeeps, popping the hood while it is ideling cooled it fast.
