ignition help!!

remove the steering wheel and the lockplate. Inside the column is a setscrew holding the cylinder in....unscrew it and pull the cylinder out.

You'll need a wheel puller, obviously, but you also need a lockplate removal tool. It's about $10 and worth every bit (try it without it and you'll see why). It compresses the spring behind the lockplate and pushes it down so you can pop off the clip holding it to the steering shaft. Once you open it all up you'll see what I'm talking about.

Should be like a standard GM column. Remove steering wheel & lock plate, loosen turn signal switch to gain access to the retaining bolt directly in front of the lock cylinder. (should be a torx)

any of the usual auto parts stores (Advance Auto, Autism Zone, NAPA, etc.) should have them. They're usually shelved right next to the steering wheel pullers.

You can get by without one, but the tool makes it sooooo much easier to get the snap ring exposed so you can pry it off.
