Rear axle fluid seeping out from around the plug?

Yes. lol
 
It's designed to do that, it keeps a fine coating of oil on the diff cover for corrosion prevention.

Ok, not really but it might as well be designed that way since every one I have ever seen leaks.
 
yeah mines been like that forever, it looks ugly but at least I know there's stuff in there.
 
Actually, I appreciate that question. Both of my front and rear diff plugs leak also. I thought it had something to do with my Jeep's prostate or something.

You can buy replacement plugs. They're the HELP brand, found in most auto parts stores.

Why would Chrysler put a cheezy rubber plug in such a critical position, anyway?:smsoap:

Mine irritated me so much that I replaced the cover with a SS one, with a real fill plug.
