I just did the Ford 5.0 injector mod but the retainer clips don't fit. Do I need them?

Yes! Double check the fit, mine went on with no problems at all. Are you sure the injectors are seated fully? Make sure the clips are going into the small slots on the injector.

There are no slots on the injector. They are the 4-port yellow injectors.

I put 5 of the clips back on. I lost the 6th, so off to the junk yard. There is no groove on the injector for the clip, it's just wrapped around the injector body, but it is tight. We'll see how it works.

In case anyone is actually looking at this thread:
I drove it about 5 miles last night after the install and had no problems. Drove it about half that distance tonight and it's throwing a 27 error code "injector driver" and running rough. By the way, I also replaced the plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor at the same time.

Thanks for the link. That's where I found out what the code meant. I hope I just have a bad injector and I haven't fried my computer.

Problem solved (I hope). One of my "new" injectors were bad. Replaced it and everything seems fine.
